If you missed the .357 String Band's debut Kirksville performance in September (and you probably did) fear not! Walk the Plank Productions is proudly re-providing you with them.

The .357 String Band hail from parts unknown in the deep south (Milwaukee, WI) but their music comes from the even deeper south; Johnny Cash's flaming memory with better drugs and point and click pornography.

.357 blend traditional bluegrass and pre-corporate-country with an angst of fervor and rebellion you kids who can't remember what punk is call punk. But don't take my word for it, here's what a few random f---s have to say:

"These boys come in with tattoos and piercings and long hair, and you think that maybe grandpa in the back of the room is going to hate it, but guess what - grandpa loves it and so do I, because .357 may have punk rock style, but their musical heart is very traditional."

- The Reverend Peyton, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band

"If Hank Williams were alive today, he would probably listen to punk (like his grandson does), flirt with the idea of readily available street-drugs and be a big fan of the hillbilly/punk/Americana of Milwaukee's .357 String Band. An obvious punk influence driven by banjo, fiddle and mandolin creates a sound that they like to call amphetamine-fueled mountain music. The best Thing about these guys is their live show. Hoe-down meets throw-down in an all-out frenzy that matches up against any snake worshipping Christian revival tent show ever staged to spook an audience into a glazed-eye state of euphoria. Slip on yer boots and wash out your wife beater T-shirt"

-Lane Klozier, Maximum Ink Magazine

Our Milwaukee boys will be joined on stage by local favorites Left Hand Black, returning to power after a brief hiatus from Kirksville just in time to melt your ungrateful faces back into metal mutiny. Their first local show in several months, this will be a must see.

Setting the mood for the evening will be opening act Columbia MO powerpopsters Goldbugs. I don't know anything about these guys but you're on the damn computer right now, go check out their myspace you silly kids!

Bring your friends and bring their children! Hire a sitter and bring her to! It's rock and roll in kv-mo, don't let it die.

Souled American, who graced the DuKum stage in May 2007, is featured in this month's issue of The Believer.

The author, Theodore McDermott, makes his worship of the band clear when he proclaims, "when I listen to music, I listen to Souled American."

A must-read!
